Multiple Clients

Question,

I manage multiple clients and have installed vnc manager successfully on the client's servers. I have transferred the Registered computer config files to my local machine so I can directly remote into client machine via vpn connection.

While on the server, I can scan and see who's logged in and what version of VNC is installed on client's environment. But on my local machine (while connect via vpn), the vnc manager does not give the correct server status, and all show up red . I have checked my vpn connection settings, and used the default gateway, and added the dns ip address of the client environment, but the issue still happening. Any help will be greatly appreciate it.

Uploading .lnk files as ressources ?

Hi,

It appears that if I upload a .lnk file (a win32 link to an application), the .lnk file isn't uploaded. Instead, VNC Manager uploads the application file (.exe) targetted by the .lnk file.

Is it possible to upload the .lnk file instead of the application file ?

Windows 7 sluggish to log in

On VNC manager 5.0.17.1.x32 using Ultra VNC 1.0.6.5 everything works great on windows XP. When I go to connect to the windows 7 32 bit pc it is SUPER sluggish at the login screen but once I am logged in its fine.

Anyone have any idea why it would be so sluggish just at the initial login screens? Its hard to enter the username and password because its so slow.

ThumbNails

I want to use VNC Manager in a classroom enviroment where a tutor can view their students machines remotely. I have set up a group in "my registered computers" right clicked this group and then selected "Add to VNC Thumbnail View". When I open the thumbnail view the computer tries to connect to all the clients in the list. All good so far. However if a machine is not switched on i get the error 10060 failed to connect to server. Is there any way to have it so that it does not fail but shows that the client could not connect. With maybe later connecting to the server when the computer is switched on? Also I have noticed is that when the student computer is switched off it falls off the thumbnail view. So in summary to do what i want it to do, I am constantly refreshing the thumbnail view and clearing 10060 errors.

Manager lockes up in thumbnail view

VNC manager keeps locking up when I try to add multiple computers into thumbnail view. I am using the latest ultra repackage and here is the problem. Even if I force quit the application and relaunch it, it continues to try to restore the thumbnails view from the previous session resulting in a lockup loop. The only fix is to go into the users profile and delete everything at AppData\Roaming\SmartCode Solutions and start from scratch. I am using a win7 machine if that makes a difference. Also, the computers are set to automatically log in using default windows log on credentials. To be honest with you guys, thumbnails hasn't worked properly for me since the older 4.x versions. Everything else seems to work ok. Let me know if you need any additional info and I will be happy to supply it. Thanks

VNC Manager 5.0 - several quastions

HI, I work in a big company on IT Manager positions. I control just about 700 work stations in many localizations with difrent type of conections (wan, lan, isdn, modem). All of those computers working with many rules.

I'm testing trial verion of vnc manager 5.0 and i have view quastions:
1. Is there any pasabilites to make vnc connection with dsm plugin through built in manager vnc(i have rc4.key and i found place to put it on but i can't fund dsm plugin options or place to put this file in)
2. How can i build my own vnc deployment version (it's ultravnc 1.0.1) with rc4.key and dsm plugin.

Sluggish UltraVNC Screen Refresh using v5.0.16.0 in windows 7 64bit

Hello!

I just upgraded my system to Windows 7 64bit Pro, and SC accessing UltraVNC v1.06 (I Believe is the Version #).

After upgrading to W7, it has run SLOW in VNC Mode. RDP mode seems fine. Any Ideas? It is Actually UNUSABLE right now in VNC.
I religiously use this for my Remote Sessions. I do not like using the normal UltraVNC Viewer anymore. It is OK using the Viewer.

Cannot uninstall/change VNC password

I cant seem to get the VNC password reset wizard to work.. It has worked in the past but not anymore. Also I cannot uninstall VNC through the wizard. Any help would be awesome. Here is the log entry...

Detect Installed VNC Distribution Problem

I just observed some odd behavior in VNC Mgr. (v5.0.15.0).

I've noticed on several of Win 2000 Pro workstations, if I have the SmartCode distribution of UVNC (1.0.6.4 and now 1.0.8.0), the "Detect Installed VNC Distribution" fails with the error message "The remote procedure call failed. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BE). However, if I uninstall the SmartCode distribution and install using the v1.0.8.0 installer from UltraVNC.org, detection works fine.

I have not observed this on WinXP Pro.

Random High CPU Utilization

Greetings all,

I recently upgraded to enterprise version 5.0.14. Since then, at random times VNCManager.exe uses 100% cpu. I can't seem to put a trigger on it. I don't use the product for anything other then RDP. No remote mangement/scripts/vnc ... etc.

Anybody else having this problem or have any suggestions?

Open Quick Connection in a new windows ?

Hello, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I cant seem to find an answer.

Im aware that in main options that you can specify a 'Separate Window' for new connections. I don't want this behavior by default, but sometimes, in an adhoc fashion, it would be nice to open a connection in a new window.

Is this possible please ?

When the license expires in a year, does that just stop you from upgrading or does it also stop you from using the application?

VNC install without restart

I Initated a deployment process to migrate a group of machines from Tight VNC 1.3.9 to Smartcode dist. 1.3.10. I subsequently got calls from users at the target office that their machines were restarting. When manually installing TightVNC 1.3.10, it's not necessary to restart the machine. Is there a way to specify that a machine not be restarted during the deployment process?

Ctrl Alt Del wont work on Vista pc's

When i roll out ultravnc, latest version, and try to vnc into a vista pc that is at the login screen, i can see the login screen fine, but the ctrl alt del button won't work to let me log in to the pc, happens on every pc with windows vista, xp machines work just fine and i log in ok to them, the problem is just with vista pcs, we're running vista business here. any help appreciated, maybe an option in install or something?? thanks.

Ultra VNC freezing issue

We've got Ultra VNC installed on a number of our clients workstations, both XP and Vista. Versions range from 1.04 RC16 to 1.05 pushed out from Smartcode. They all have the same problem, which is that after about 10 seconds of connection, the windows freezes and you can do nothing remotely. If you kill the remote session, then try to reconnect, the session is either still frozen or will not reconnect at all.

Anyone any ideas?

I was arguing if there is a way to insert a link in the toolbar to simplify and speed up this task.

Ping Status Question

I'm using Standard v4.5.6.0, I select "Check VNC/RDP/SSH Server Status" for a single machine or for a folder. The task appears to complete, but the little green dot never shows up in the column labeled RDP status. In addition in previous versions I could also get it to do a ping at the same time. Has this functionality changed? or is this a bug or something?

RDP /admin switch?

After fighting with and giving up on VNC under Vista, I've decided to try to give RDP a try. Is there a way in VNC Manager to specify the /admin switch for mstcs? With that switch I'll be able to view the user's desktop as they are viewing it. Otherwize in Vista, and in XP SP3 too, the connection logs in a new user.

Multiple Users Same Configuration File

We have 10 users all accessing the same Computer and setttng list. When an amend is made in order for the setting not to be lost do we have to have the Monitor registered computers list file changes ticked so that everyone gets a notification of the amend and they can reload the settings or is there a way the settings can update silently?

If you are receiving an Access Denied error while running the VNC Deployment Wizard and

you are sure that you entered a valid administrative logon credentials
and in case if you are deploying to a Windows XP based computer, that the simplified file sharing is turned off

Then you should check that Allow Distributed COM setting is enabled on the computer you are trying to deploy to (it's enabled by default but some software might turn it off).

To do so you should open Component Services snap-in. Start->Administrative Tools->Component Services.
When snap-in is running in the left tree navigate to: Console Root->Component Services->Computers->My Computer and select Properties command.
(you must run the snap-in on the computer you are trying to deploy to. Or you can also connect to the computer remotely by running New->Computer context menu command available for the Console Root->Component Services->Computers tree node.)

Multiple computer list

Hi,

SmartCode is used by a group of tech supports in customer services in our company. We want to manage a unique centralized computers list and have only one administrator being able to update it.
We have configured a unique computer list on a shared disk and set a read only access for the group but we lack one feature.

We would like to let each of tech supports create their own list beside the centralized one. Is there a way to set multiple paths in the “computers list path” in order to keep the centralized list for everyone and merge their personals?

deployment issue with 4.5 (using trial version)

VNC Deployment help with vista

Hi i have windows vista SP1 with smartcode VNC manager (enterprise edition version 4.0.14.0)

I can't get any deployment to work on my vista machine. If i deploy vnc from my windows xp pc to the same destination pc everything just work fine. Can someone help me please. I paste the log of the error. If it's working with xp then it probably relate to my vista pc

i am using Beta1 VNC manager and i am having difficulties deploying VNC to my windows 2k3 servers.

I have installed the WMI Windows installer Provider , i checked the dcom settings according to the access denied sticky posting.

But i still get an return code 3 error:

Mirror Driver Deployment UVNC R16

Why is the option to deploy the mirror driver with the distribution packet of uvnc 1.0.4 R16 disabled? Is it planed to integrated the deployment of the driver in future versions? Which is the best way to deploy the driver, while it is not part of the distribution packet.

VB Script to show Serial Number or Service tag

Hey guys, I have just started using VNC Manager and I have to say it is very impressive! well worth the cost!

anyway,

here is a VB Script that you can remote execute to get the Manufacturer of the machine as well as the serial number. I have tested this with HP and the serial number displays just as it should... I tested it on a dell machine and was plesently suprised to see that it flawlessly displays the service tag so every dell I tried it on. very handy to have that information remotely at a click of a mouse.
