I haven't tried RealVNC Ent. Ed. yet, but I've my doubts about how well it works under Vista.

By the way, we are preparing the VNC Manager (Ent. Build 3.6.14.0 seems to be passing all the tests without any problems and we will be gearing toward the certification as soon as the v3.6 gets released.

RE: Vista Support ?

On RealVNC's web site it does state Vista as a support operating system, but only in the Personal and Enterprise Edition.

http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

RE: Vista Support ?

Most probably there is a problem with UltraVNC server running on Vista. It appears that the problem is actually caused by a bug in the Microsoft’s RDP ActiveX viewer under Vista. We can reproduce this problem easily with a sample application, which fails under Vista, but works on other OSes. A bug report had been submitted, now we are waiting for a reply from Microsoft first, since we really don’t want to implement some ugly hack to workaround this bug.

RE: Vista Support ?

As far as I know VNC Manager works fine on VISTA except the RDP 6.0 Client Part. Even it is still a problem and will only be fixed by Developers, I found a way to use VNC Manager with RDP connections. It is not as convenient as native support on VNC but it may let you to use VISTA and VNC until a new build with the fixes avaliable. I added an external tool (mstsc.exe) which is the RDP 6.0 client installed in VISTA. I set the arguments (/v:($server_ip) /console /h:1200 /w:1600). Now I can right click on a server entry and choose the external tool to connect my RDP clients. If you want to customize the connection settings you can do it by changing the arguments. You can get the avaliable arguments by typing mstsc -? on command prompt.

I hope this will help...

RE: Vista Support ?

I think it is fair to let you guys have the fixes done. So we are waiting for VS 2005 SP1, which if not delayed again, should be released by the end of September and supposed to fix Vista compatibility issues.

By the way, we will be adding support for new RDP 6.0 features. Also Microsoft introduces some new exciting API in Vista, that allows to view the same desktop by several users, so we will be evaluating it and if possible adding support for it too.

RE: Vista Support ?

I have been checking this Thread for almost two weeks now. I was desperately looking to see if I can use VNC with VISTA. Main motive behind this is the new RDP 6.0 which enables multi monitor and higher resolution support. VISTA is now on RC1 which means there will be no major changes on the OS except the bug fixes. I think it is very important for VNC users to start testing VISTA as our next operating system. I hope the importance of this issue is getting higher because I am stuck with XP Pro x64 and I can not continue testing the VISTA.

RE: Vista Support ?

Hi there I know this isn't overly important for you guys as you have other stuff on your plate.
