Trying to use the thumbnails feature, but my machines are all using RDP. Does it not work with RDP? I just get a "disconnected" icon...

Thanks in advance!

Also, if VNC is required, do I need to install a special client on the machines to start using it, or do I just use that "deploy vnc" tool that comes with the app? Haven't used VNC before, RDP has always got the job done for me, but I really want this thumbnail feature so I am willing to try it if it gets me the thumbs

RDP Thumbnails feature is not available in the VNC Manager because RDP server doesn't allow shared viewers. Actually it does via "RDP shadowing" but anyway it's not helping much for RDP thumbnails implementation.

Yes you can use the VNC Deployment wizard to install VNC software to remote computers. It installs one of the three standard VNC distributions. Should you have any troubles with the deployment do let us know and we will help you

Thanks! I actually tried all 3 VNC distros and ended up sticking with RealVNC... The thumbnails are working now. Really cool feature.

One problem with the thumbs though, is that when you double-click them it opens a new connect *every* time. Even if a session to the same machine is already open. It would be cool if it piggy-backed an already open session and just switched to it instead of opening a new session...

Unrelated, is there a way to have VNC Manager AUTO-CONNECT to a list of servers on startup? Say an entire server group? I have 3 machines I'd like it to connect to automatically every time I start it up... Thanks in advance!

This feature could be implemented, bu t the only problem that in such scenario, when you open new full screen connection the thumbnail item would have to be removed.

The VNC Manager allows to auto-restore thumbnail items but not full screen viewers.

Actually we will consider both of these features for implementation in v4.0. We are currently working on this new major upgrade and it coming along very nicely
