Hi,

I'm new VNC Manager user (still on the trial), and I'm having same problem as described by other users.
VNC manager is freezing while connecting (or during the connection) to UVNC servers (1.0.5.3).
Looks like it happens on really slow connections, or when there are connection problems - like the situations when the regular UVNC client is not refreshing the screen, or when it's waiting before/after password prompt (negotiationg protocol version, password accepted etc.).

The difference is that when VNC Manager is having issues with singe uvnc connection the only thing you can do is to kill VNC Manager - but it also kills all other active sessions, and it's really irritating.

And this is the only thing stopping me from buying few copies of VNC Manager, so I hope that you can help. :)

We would love to fix this bug but we have yet to reproduce it. One one of our test computers a VNC Manager connected to UVNC server was running for almost two days didn't hang :(

You mentioned the password prompt case, could you please describe it in more details so we could try to reproduce it?

Hi,

I think that you need really bad connection between server and client to reproduce it. High ping (above 500ms), low transfer speed (10-100kbps), and it should freeze sometimes (the connection).
We're getting those conditions by accessing our clients in Nigeria. :D But my guess is that you should be able to simulate it on more advanced router. Or just connect client computer to Internet using slow dialup/gprs connection (like 9600 or 14400) - this should give you slow connection and high ping. If I'll have any more ideas I'll let you know.

It would be a problem to find such slow connection in Singapore. Even GPRS here is pretty darn fast :) By any chance would it be possible for us to connect to your Nigerian client computer?

I was thinking about that, but I can't do that, sorry.
You can try software like this one: http://bandwidthcontroller.com/trafficShaperXp.html
to simulate slow connection. It may work...
If I'll find an idea how to reproduce this problem I'll let you know.

This software seems to work just fine. We have setup a computer with Download: 64kbps Upload: 33kbps settings and it's connected to a UltraVNC 1.0.5.3.

It hasn't hanged yet. What encoding do you use for your connections? Also let us know if JPEG or ZIP compressions are enabled.

Hey,

I'm also not having those problems now...
Settings: default ones were used on both sides (UVNC server and VNC Manager).
I guess even slow but stable connection with low ping is too good.
When I was having those problems, the connection was really bad (high ping, lot's of packet loss), but I have no idea how to simulate it.

Hi,

problems are back.
VNC manager is freezing for a few seconds when there are communication issues.
maybe you've got some debug logging build in, just to look at what is waiting for ?

One more thing: at this very moment I'm running VNC file transfer on same slow connection, and whole VNC Manager is freezing sometimes. I can move the main window for 1 sec, and for next 1-2 sec I can't. And again, and again.
